Located at the extreme southern tip of the island, The Sound is arguably the most dramatic natural location on the Isle of Man. A narrow, turbulent stretch of water separates the mainland from the nature sanctuary of the Calf of Man, creating a feeding ground for a large colony of grey seals. Visitors are almost guaranteed to see seals sunbathing on the rocky islet of Kitterland or bobbing in the currents.
The glass-fronted Visitor Centre offers 180-degree views of the cliffs and sea, making it a perfect spot for coffee and wildlife watching in any weather. The surrounding headlands are covered in heather and offer access to the coastal footpath for hikers.
