Located on the northeast coast, Ramsey is the second-largest town on the Isle of Man and is known for its flat, walkable layout and expansive sandy beach. It serves as a commercial and cultural centre for the northern part of the island, with a strong maritime and agricultural heritage.
Ramsey is often sunnier than other parts of the island due to its microclimate and enjoys sweeping views of the surrounding hills. The town centre has a mix of local shops, cafés, and services, and the historic swing bridge over the Sulby River is a defining feature. The nearby Mooragh Park offers leisure options including boating, playgrounds, and skate facilities, while the long promenade attracts walkers and cyclists.
Ramsey is also a popular base for exploring the island’s northern glens and plantations, such as Ballure Glen and Elfin Glen. It’s a northern terminus of the Manx Electric Railway and plays a role in the TT racecourse. The town is friendly and laid-back with a growing arts scene and community events.
