Mill Road, Ballasalla, Isle of Man, IM9 3DB | Directions
Description

Located in Ballasalla, the Abbey was once the religious power centre of the island. Founded in 1134 by King Olaf I, it was the burial place of Manx Kings. Today, the site is a beautifully preserved set of ruins set within manicured gardens. An interpretive centre tells the story of the monks' lives (and their jams!), and in summer, the gardens host "Strawberry Teas." It is a peaceful, spiritual site that connects directly to the Silverdale Glen river walk.
