Only a short distance from Douglas, Groudle Glen feels like a step back in time. This deep, wooded valley was a booming Victorian tourist attraction, and much of that charm remains.
The walk begins under a canopy of beech and lime trees, following the river past a restored waterwheel ("Little Isabella") before opening out onto a stunning pebbled cove. In summer, the Groudle Glen Railway, a miniature steam train, chugs along the clifftops to the Sea Lion Rocks.
It is a favorite for local families due to its mix of sheltered woodland, history, and sea access.
