Situated in the island’s northern plain, Andreas is a largely rural parish known for its flat farmland, quiet country lanes, and open skies. The area includes the main village of Andreas and smaller settlements like Sandygate and The Lhen. Historically, the parish played a role in military aviation during WWII, with remnants of the old RAF Andreas airfield still visible today.
For visitors, Andreas offers a change of pace — peaceful drives, birdwatching, and a base for exploring the northern coastlines, including Blue Point and the Point of Ayre. St Andrew’s Church, at the heart of the village, is a landmark with notable stained glass and community ties. The parish is also home to stretches of the Raad ny Foillan coastal path and links well into the island’s network of country walks.
Though quiet, Andreas plays a subtle but essential role in the island’s agricultural and environmental landscape.
